A visual journal of becoming
In between
stairs and glasses,
in the backyards
at sunset,
in the silence
and between winds,
I hide the letter
and I change the scene.
Behind the sea,
under the waves,
I wait in silence
the quick exchange.
The air is splashing
behind the curtains,
the sound is playing
with the sun,
the clouds are running
after stars,
the sunset sings
its final song.
I rest on the wave
I try to be awake
I skip the dance
arranged on the edge.
I drift my way toward the shore,
I walk on shimmer as before
and in that warm, alluring smell
I start collecting some empty shells.
I found a pearl!
a splendid one.
I wrap it in my hair
and start to drown.
I let myself sink,
I start to dance with the shells,
I let myself fall,
deep down in that hall.
And when I felt
I had touched the bottom,
another shell just cracked
and opened.
I found another pearl.
I screamed.
I closed the shell
and in a fraction of a second
I was above the water,
forgetting that entire dwell.
The orchestra was closing.
The sunset shut the curtains.
I walked my way back to the stairs,
I went up till the end of waves,
I opened the backyard window
and I greeted the moon with my heart.
I touched my hair,
dispersed in the air,
and I became aware
that in the middle
of this affair
I’d lost
my precious pearl.
